Many of these religious statues are authentic and were carried by soldiers in the Civil War. I have many in my collection.
This particular one was advertised as original and authentic Civil War period. Also advertised to be made of brass and pewter. When I received it, the case was made of modern pot metal, and the statue was a brass colored plated pot metal. Obvious that it was a new item.
Seems some things are not even too sacred to tamper with.
