The Holliday C-2 School students have many reasons why they are per forming well on their MAP tests. The quality staff and low teacher/student ratio, outstanding use of technology in the classrooms and throughout the curriculum, and the overall attempt to improve the quality of the programs that the Holliday C-2 School provides add up to excellence in education for the students.

The Holliday C-2 School is a small K-8 school which has a low teacher to student ratio.  Students are given a great deal of special attention from the teachers, aides, and volunteers.  Students are grounded in the basic skills of reading, writing, math, science, and social studies.  Students are expected to know and do as much as they are capable of and they are held accountable by the teachers and administrator of the district.  Students who are falling behind are given extra attention and lots of extra help during the school day.  The staff at the Holliday C-2 School works well together and takes extra effort to do the very best for each and every child.

The Holliday C-2 School Technology Program and Mrs. Mary Jane Havens were recognized on Tuesday, April 6th at the annual Technology and Science Fair by Successlink as a Proven Practice for 2004.  This award is given to 5 schools in the state of Missouri each year.  Holliday C-2 is the first K-8 districts to receive the award.  The Proven Practice Award highlights Holliday's use of Technology in the curriculum all year long and then providing a night to highlight that work for the parents during the Technology and Science Fair. For the Technology Fair, Students in K-1st grade had their PowerPoint presentation about the ocean and about fall on display.  Students in the 2nd and 3rd grade had made flyers about the planets using Inspiration and PowerPoints about their favorite authors.  Students in the 4th and 5th grade had completed a Webquest, Take Me Out to the Ballgame and word processing documents using poetry and short essays.  The 6th-7th-8th grades had Want Ads posted about their favorite books using word processing.  The 6th and 7th made PowerPoints about the planets and the 7th and 8th grade had completed a PowerPoint about Study Skills. Many students had participated in the Robot projects and many other projects during the year.  Successlink provided an award to the school, a proclamation from Senator John Cauthorn's office, along with a $1,000 check.  Successlink treated the Science and Technology Fair participants to cake, punch, and snacks.   Holliday C-2 School was recently fully accredited during the MSIP review of the school where Technology was sited as a Strength in the district.  Technology is making a difference for our students in our district.

Holliday C-2 School was recently fully accredited during the MSIP review of the school for the first time receiving a perfect score of 101points/ 101 points.  The Administrator, Teachers, Staff, and School Board have made a special effort to use the MSIP program to improve the quality of the school for the students.  The extra time and attention paid to the evaluations and planning for the future have made the quality of education much better at the school.
