EVENTS AT HOLLIDAY C-2

The Holliday C-2 School has regular assemblies to present information and entertainment regularly.  The Madison Fire Department regularly comes to the school to give a program about fire prevention in October.  The students like to see all of the equipment and ask questions.

Each year the Holliday C-2 School offers a Back to School night to its parents.  Parents and students may sign up for school supplies, haircuts, dental supplies, free gift bags, and other items.  Donations from the local churches, civic groups, parents, and the school make this special night possible for the students.  Everyone needs to be ready to come back to school ready to learn and have the necessary tools available to them to do so.  We have registered beauticians; Mrs. Vanskike and Mrs. Miller, give their time and effort to serve the students.  Come and join the school for the next back to school night to be held in the middle of August.  Call the school for more information at 660-266-3412.

The Holliday Kindergarten and First Grade get help from the Sixth and Seventh Grade to make cookies for the residents of the Monroe Manor and Miller’s Retirement Home.  The students make the sugar cookies together and decorate them.  They use the ovens in the kitchen to bake them.  Then they package the cookies and place them in bags for the residents.  This year the students signed Christmas cards and sent Christmas ornaments, too.  The activity is a lot of fun and has become a tradition at the school.

Two trees were planted in memory of  Gladys Clay, a cook at the school for many years, and Della Johnson , a kitchen worker and member of the community.
